Gallup finds that 50% of Americans approved of the strike while 41% opposed it (1). These approval ratings are much lower than what is typical for American military actions. Approval was high among republicans and low among democrats, suggesting that this low approval rating is not being driven by anti-war right wingers but, rather, by the left’s general hatred of Trump. Three general approval surveys have come out since the 7th and they show no significant change in Trump’s overall approval rating (2).
This is somewhat surprising in light of the empirical documented pro-Syria intervention media bias (3). This probably speaks to the declining power of mainstream media in the country.
